What is the greatest impact the Internet has had on your life?

I can’t remember my life before the internet ran the world like it does now. Before I get out of the bed in the morning, I usually have ten notifications from a variety of apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and Facebook. And that’s just on my phone from social networking sites… Next, I usually head over to my Spotify app and put on my “AM” playlist to help me boogie on out the door. So much of my time, energy, and thought process revolves around which ever screen is closest to me at that moment and honestly, I think it’s pretty great.

1. Health and fitness

As a Type 1 Diabetic there are a variety of apps that I can use to help monitor my glucose levels throughout the day, manage my exercise, calorie intake, etc. It makes managing my disease exponentially easier. I cannot imagine my day to day routine without it. There are so many good apps out there for health and fitness specifically and I would recommend trying a few of them to find which one works best for you. And beyond apps, other wearable tech has come around lately like Fitbit watches that help you put your activity into an analytical perspective.

2. Listening to music

I like to get lost in my jams. Spotify is the most used app for me personally, by a long shot. The app is user-friendly, looks cool and you can download playlists straight to your phone if you have premium. This is especially beneficial for Colorado residents who like to take the kids up to the mountains on the weekends where there’s no service but need for some tunes. Pandora and iTunes offer similar services that can be enjoyed for free or at the premium level for payment. Regardless of your preferred app you can easily connect to Bluetooth and listen through your car stereo system or portable speakers. The monthly payment is worth every cent if you cant stand the frequent five minute commercial breaks that seem to take up half your commute when listening to traditional radio. And beyond music I’ve recently gotten into is listening to podcasts which provide a variety of content so you can subscribe to a show that aligns with your interests and have hours of great entertainment at your disposal.

3. Social Networking

First MySpace now Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, etc. They’re everywhere and it seems like every one I know including myself on all of them. It’s convenient to log in and see your friends and family and what they’re up to everyday. You’re into hiking, parenting pages, coupon offers, and Freebies? There are hundreds of sites out there that will give you info/pictures/videos on all of that. Anything you’re interested in is only a click away on every social site. It’s a great way to find new hobbies, cool videos of people doing adventurous things, or just pictures of cats being adorable. The evolution of social sites online is truly amazing… If you are into a local store, chances are they have a Facebook account so you can stay up-to-date on sales and new products, etc. We’re just getting an Instagram account set up for ShopGala.com so please if you’re on there give us a follow and check out all of the cool offers we’re putting up there.
